About the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection
The Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection of Churches is comprised of over
100 churches in 17 States, and 6 Countries. The Connection operates over a
dozen Christian Day Schools in addition to Allegheny
Wesleyan College, a Women's Missionary Society, Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist
Youth Society, and Allegheny Publications (produces The Allegheny Wesleyan
Methodist monthly).
Beliefs
The Church is set apart from other Christian denominations by its emphasis
on personal obedience to God and His commands as established in the Bible
(Conservative Holiness). Adherents most markedly demonstrate their
personal obedience to God by their rejection of contemporary entertainment
(Internet, television, movies, music, etc.) and fashions
(dress, hair styles, etc.). The Church teaches the doctrine of Entire
Sanctification, a second work of grace that cleanses the Believer of the
sinful carnal nature. For a complete presentation of beliefs, see the
Church Discipline.
History
The Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection looks to the organizations and
doctrines established by John Wesleyan in the 1700's as its beginning.
More recently it was the original Allegheny Conference, but did not become part
of the Wesleyan Church when the Wesleyan Methodist and Pilgrim Holiness Churches
merged in 1966. See additional Historical
information.
